Nicole Bessey

Originally from Grafton, WI, Nicole has been with the Boys & Girls Club for 7 years. She began as an intern, moving on to a position as a part time Youth Development Professional. Continuing her career with the Club, Nicole has held various management positions. She has been Operations Director for 3 years, and acted as Interim Executive Director on two separate occasions. She attended UW-Stevens Point and received her degree in Sociology in 2001.
 
Judy Shepard

Judy has been with the Boys & Girls Club for over 10 years. She has seen many changes through the Club's growing years. Judy came to the Club with a marketing and sales background, having been in sales and design with the local newspaper and Shopper -Style. Although Judy's main duties are office coordination, she wears lots of hats, helping the Board of Directors, CPO and staff in many tasks associated with the operation of the Club. Judy is especially gifted and works hard to help with the Club's fund raising events. She has been co-chair of the Annual Boys & Girls Club Cycle Ride for the past 15 years! Judy says she has seen many children develop into loving, caring and strong leaders within the Club through the years. She agrees whole-heartedly that the Boys & Girls Club of the Wisconsin Rapids Area is the Positive Place for Kids!
 
Heather Steder
Baker Unit Director

Heather has been with the Club for a total of 3 years. She began as a part-time Youth Development Professional through the DECA program at Lincoln High School. After graduating from Lincoln High School, Heather left the Club briefly but returned a year later as the Port Edwards Site Director. Heather was hired as the Mead Unit Director in September 2007 and stepped into the position of Unit Director of Baker Club in June, 2008.
 
Zak King
Mead Unit Director

Zak is a Club Alumni and was one of the first members of the Boys & Girls Club when it opened in Wisconsin Rapids, as well as a former Youth of the Year. Zak has been a part of the staff for the past 6 years. He is a 2005 graduate of Mid-State Technical College holding a Degree in Criminal Justice - Law Enforcement. Zak acted as the Unit Director for the Baker Drive Unit from March, 2008 through September, 2008, when he took his new position as Unit Director at the Mead School Unit.

A 2007 graduate of River Cities High School, Ben began working at the Club in December 2007 through the work-study program at Mid-State Technical College. After his work-study ran up, Ben signed on as a regular staff member for the Club, coordinating and implementing the gym programming at the Baker Drive Unit before moving to the Mead School Unit in November 2008, and to the Nekoosa Unit when it opened in January 2009, and was promoted to the position of Unit Director in March, 2009.

Cristina "Crissy" Heath - Program Assistant
Crissy has been with the Club for 7 years. She is a Club Alumni, having joined as one of the first members when the Club opened in Wisconsin Rapids, as well as a former Youth of the Year. She uses her experience and gift for working with youth to ensure positive developmental experiences for all members. Crissy graduated from Mid-State Technical College with a degree in Early Childhood Education. In addition to her duties at Baker, Crissy also coordinates and implements a daily craft during the before-school program at our Mead School Unit.


Josh Schuh - Program Assistant
Originally from Temple, TX, Josh is a 2007 graduate of River Cities High School in Wisconsin Rapids. Josh is a Club alumni, having attended for over eight years, and working his way up to becoming a teen volunteer for the Club, and was hired as a Program Assistant in the fall of 2008.

Mead School Unit Staff

Ashley Becker - Program Assistant
A 2008 graduate of Lincoln High School, Ashley began working at the Club in September 2007 through the DECA program at LHS. She began at the Club by assisting in coordinating and implementing the programs at the Port Edwards Site, and was moved to the Mead Unit in the fall of 2008 where she runs the after-school Club Tech center and Power Hour, along with the gym during the before-school program at Mead.

Tasha Melton - Program Assistant
A 2009 graduate of River Cities High School, Tasha began working at the Club as the Tutor for our Baker Unit. She was then moved to the Nekoosa Unit as a Program Assistant in April, 2009, where she coordinates and implements daily tournaments in our games room.






Port Edwards Outreach Site Staff

Erin Papp - Site Director
Erin, originally from New Berlin, WI, is a 2007 graduate of UW - Stevens Point where she earned her degree in Psychology. Erin's position as Port Edwards Site Director is to plan, coordinate and implement all programs, activities, membership recruitment and daily operations for the three days a week the Port Edwards Site is open. The two days Erin is not at Port Edwards, she can be found at the Baker Unit coordinating The Club's Kitchen Cooking Show and helping out wherever needed.

Kristina Shirk - Program Assistant
Originally from Escondido, CA, Kristina is a Club alumni who started working at the Club through the Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools tutor program. She was hired as a Program Assistant in the fall of 2008. Kristina graduated from Lincoln High School in 2009, and beginning in the fall of 2009 Kristina will be attending the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater, majoring in Marine Biology.
